Artesia is located in the center of the lower Pecos Valley of Southeastern New Mexico and is convenient to Roswell, of UFO Museum fame, and Carlsbad Caverns National Park.

Mountain retreats, such as Cloudcroft and Ruidoso, are a mere two hours away. Artesia was once famed for Artesian Water Wells, and is now the home of  FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center), a booming oil industry, a diversified agricultural industry and the Artesia High Bulldogs.  Main Street is the cornerstone of activity; shopping, dining and working in downtown Artesia.
